Year One Of PitchTracker Smart Baseball
March 5, 2019 | Abbi Nicolella
PITTSBURGH – Exactly one year ago today – on March 5, 2018 – Diamond Kinetics introduced PitchTracker – a first-of-its-kind, revolutionary device delivering cutting-edge technology and science-based motion analytics in the form of a regulation spec, full-grain leather baseball.
Engineered for players of all ages and skill levels, the PitchTracker Smart Baseball was developed to give coaches and players an affordable, must-have tool that they could take with them to the field – or use in a facility – that wasn’t a big, bulky, expensive hardware system, but instead a leather baseball just like one they would use in a game.
In the year since its release, PitchTracker has already exceeded expectations.
Such big-league clubs as the Toronto Blue Jays and Detroit Tigers have adopted PitchTracker as part of their day-to-day operations, while such training facilities on the vanguard of pitching development like Driveline Baseball have called PitchTracker a “viable, robust measurement tool taking the convenient form of a leather baseball.”

Hall of Fame closer Trevor Hoffman has spoken at length about the benefits pitchers can get from the metrics and ease of use PitchTracker has to offer, while former MLB All-Star Matt Clement – who pitched nine years with the Padres, Marlins, Cubs and Red Sox, logging more than 1,400 innings – has raved about the ball’s possibilities, as well as its myriad of applications across all aspects of pitching.
Among them: building preseason throwing programs, guiding rehab protocols, improving mechanics and getting exposure from college recruiters and pro scouts.
“As a former big league pitcher and father of two middle school baseball players, I know the game is changing, players are changing, and technology is a key driver of both,” said Clement. “PitchTracker creates a new avenue for how pitchers will train, and how coaches will teach, that’s powerful, fun and intuitive. I was personally involved in helping shape PitchTracker and believe it can help pitchers and coaches from the Youth level all the way to the Professional ranks be successful.”
Take a look at the sampling of user reviews and overall usage from the market and see why PitchTracker is the present and future of baseball.
